One year after the premiere of Fuoco Nero the company, founded in 2007 by Maurizio Lupinelli and Elisa Pol, continues its exploration of Antonio Moresco’s works with their staging of Magnificat. The monologue for an actress is a conversation between a mother and the voice of her unborn child. On stage Elisa Pol embodies the figure of the young mother and at the same time that of the son she still carries in her womb: an ancient relationship of complicity and conflict that Antonio Moresco’s writing brings to the paroxysm: “Why, mother? Mother, why must I be born? Mother, why?”
“Magnificat is a song of exultation, an affirmation of motherhood although the text is tragic. I felt it was necessary to maintain this rift.”
[A. Moresco]
“Magnificat is a lightning bolt and an abyss, a brief thunderous plunge into the shit and light of life.”
[A. Porcheddu, Del Teatro.it, 5 giugno 2009].
“Elisa Pol demonstrates a generosity that goes beyond excellence.”
[A. D’Agostino, Altre VelocitĂ , luglio 2008]
“Magnificat overturns all the easy clichĂ©s of motherhood by entering the depths of our bellies with impunity.”
[D. Balduccelli, Il Giornale della Mezzanotte – Inequilibrio 08, 8 luglio 2008]
